Halloween action idea: Ron Paul pumpkins!

September 30, 2007

I was inspired about this idea when I saw a huge pile of pumpkins for sale outside our local grocery store.  Wouldn’t it be cool to make some pumpkin carving stencils that say:

1. Ron Paul ’08
2. Ron Paul 4 Prez
3. http://www.ronpaul2008.com

Think how great these would look on your porches all lit up!  I think it’d be best to do all 3 and have them sitting grouped together so people get the entire message: name recognition, who he is and what he’s doing, and finally a website they can visit for more info.  And along with candy for the kids, you could give out Ron Paul DVD’s, audio CD’s and literature to the parents!  This would work well in conjunction with the idea over at www.ronpauloween.com.

Thoughts?  I recommend we all suggest this as an activity for our Meetup groups in the coming weeks.

Tax Free Tips bill outreach idea

September 28, 2007

I just hit upon a Ron Paul outreach idea that I believe would go over really, really well.

Basically, create a little handout package with information on the bill recently introduced by Ron Paul called the Tax Free Tips bill, and some info on RP; not sure exactly what to put in it, but that should be easy to figure out. It needs to be quick and easy, something you can hand out easily without too much overhead cost.

Then, you order up some $1 face value copper Ron Paul Liberty Dollars. These things are beautiful and attention getting.

Then, you go anywhere where tips are taken and you hand them the info with a $1 copper RP Liberty Dollar. This could be restaurants, salons, casinos, bars, taxi’s, whatever. Imagine what these people will think. They may only give the info alone a cursory glance, but who wouldn’t stop and admire a hefty copper coin with RP’s image on it? Not only that, but imagine how many other people might see the coin when these people get home and show others the interesting and unique tip they got that day.

And you needn’t limit it to places that you happen to be patronizing. You could hail taxi’s on the street and just say to the driver “here’s some info on Ron Paul’s Tax Free Tips bill, and his run for the presidency in 2008…and here’s a $1 tip for stopping and taking this information from me”. Who wouldn’t be happy to get a free tip?

What do you all think?? The cost would be minimal: $1 for the coin (with a little added in for shipping spread across the entire order) and another $.10 or so for the paper handouts.

Am I crazy, or does this sound like it’d be a great idea?

Now, it looks like they’re currently only taking pre-orders and the coins won’t actually ship until November, but even if that makes the bill information outdated, I think you could still do some great outreach by tipping with these coins.

Paint the town Ron: event suggestion

September 25, 2007

Like the rest of you Ron Paul supporters, I’m excited for this event!  I think it could make a huge impact on the voters as well as on mainstream media coverage of Ron Paul.  I got excited after seeing a video on YouTube of the Jacksonville Meetup group painting the town Ron and getting some great media coverage because of it (see below).

That said, I think we need to focus on something new.  As much as I love the Ron Paul Revolution logo design, I think we need to begin focusing more on designs that state WHO Ron Paul is.  Here’s a conversation that just might run through someone’s head after having seen an RP Revolution sign:

“Ron Paul Revolution?  Coooool….who the hell is Ron Paul?” and then comes “who cares?”  and they go about their day never giving the matter another thought.

So my suggestion is this: focus on signage that includes “for President” and the official campaign website address.  Not in small letters at the bottom, but equally as prominent as anything else on the sign.

At this stage in the game, we can’t afford for people to not have a clue what the sign means and who Ron Paul is when they see it.  As the lady at the end of the video clip below says “I thought it was some kind of cult”.  Needless to say, that is NOT the kind of thoughts we want to implant in potential supporters’ heads!

One more thing: please be conscientious of where you hang these signs.  Don’t violate local laws or good sense!

Please, spread this post far and wide.  Get your Meetup groups talking about it before sign painting starts in a few days!

The Only Strategy That Will Give Ron Paul a Chance

by Joseph D. Lanzendorfer

We have about six months left to promote Ron Paul, or else this whole campaign is over. We do not have until the general election, because if Ron Paul does not make it through the primaries, then we are finished. We do not have until the primaries to get the ball rolling-we have until the primaries to convince everyone voting in the Republican primaries to vote for Ron Paul. Furthermore, we should not save any of our energy for after the primaries, because once Ron Paul is one of two candidates, it will be impossible for the media to ignore him. We need a strategy that will win Ron Paul the primaries, and we need everyone united behind it. We have the support; we just need to unite our efforts.

When it comes to any marketing strategy, you have a target audience. The problem with our strategy thus far is we have no target, or rather, our target has been everyone on the internet who can vote in the primaries. There are three problems with this strategy. 1) It is too broad. 2) Not everyone who CAN vote in the Republican primaries DOES vote in the Republican primaries. 3) Not everyone is on the Internet. I am not saying we should not promote him on the Internet. It has led to some good publicity. Most people do not even know who Ron Paul is. With six months time, it would be virtually impossible to even make Ron Paul a household name, let alone convince most Americans to register as Republican and go out and vote for Ron Paul in the primaries. Most Americans do not even vote, let alone vote in the primaries. Therefore, our target audience is obvious:

REPUBLICANS WHO ALREADY PLAN TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES.

That is where my strategy comes in. Operation: Republican Caucus Storm.

Finding people who already plan to vote in the upcoming Republican primaries is easy. They are the most active members of the Republican Party. All you have to do is go to the Republican website for your state, and figure out where all of these people meet up. Figure out what you need to do to vote for Paul in the primaries, and get involved with your state’s Republican Party. For most states, this just means registering to vote as a Republican. Some states have different requirements or hold open primaries. HERE IS OUR MISSION AND THE STRATEGY. Use the website to find out where they are holding Republican caucus meetings and conventions. Go to all of these meetings and conventions and persuade as many people there as possible that Ron Paul is the man they need to get behind. The people who actually go to these meetings and conventions are the people who will be voting in the primaries.

While other methods of promoting Ron Paul are great, if we cannot convince these people to vote for Paul, we have already lost. Most of the Republican primary votes come from them. It is for this reason that this is more than just a strategy-it is practically a requirement. It is for this reason that every single Ron Paul supporter should see this as a diplomatic mission that they are obligated to accomplish. These are the people who count and these are the people who are going to convince other people.

We have the numbers we need to make this a reality. If everyone leaps into action and gets involved with the Republicans on a local level, we will be an unstoppable force. Here is a list of all 50 states and their appropriate GOP website. Click on the one for your state and let’s get moving!

What you can do to help the Ron Paul 2008 campaign

September 21, 2007

The following article is one of the best I’ve seen to date on how to help Ron Paul win the 2008 Presidential elections.  It covers all of the important bases and then some.  I found this posted up on the Freedom Force International website, a group we have supported in the past and one we will continue to support in the future.  Read this carefully, follow the steps diligently, and then get at least 5 other people to do the same.  Pass it on!

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP THE RON PAUL CAMPAIGN

HOW DOES FREEDOM FORCE STRATEGY APPLY TO THE RON PAUL MOVEMENT?
We are increasingly bombarded with emails and phone calls urging us to participate in mass e-mailings, petition campaigns, conference calls, and action projects of various kinds. Most of these calls-to-action have great merit, but we are overpowered by the sheer magnitude and multitude of the tasks.

In addition to the problem of limited resources is the fact that involving Freedom Force in such projects is contrary to our strategy. Our goal is to have members become active in other organization, each with its own special objectives, membership focus, and style of activism. A single organization can never hope to lead the entire population directly; but, by having its members in leadership positions within other organizations to which many people belong, it can be done quite readily. For proof of that, all we need to do is examine the CFR. It may hold conferences and publish scholarly papers advocating certain policies, but it never conducts letter-writing campaigns, petition drives, or partisan political campaigns. Its members, however, do all of those things through the organization they dominate. In this way, one percent of the population can influence the other ninety-nine. That is a highly effective model of leadership that we are well advised to follow.

A complete explanation of the Freedom Force strategy is posted to our web site here.

That being the case, you may wonder why Freedom Force features news about the Ron Paul movement and why it has a special page for that purpose on its web site. Isn’t that a contradiction of our strategy? The answer is no, and the reason is found in the following paragraph which is taken from the Strategy statement on our web site:

Freedom Force recognizes that, as long as the power centers of society are dominated by collectivists, the movement toward global totalitarianism will continue. Merely protesting that trend and issuing petitions or proclamations may slow the process on occasion but will make no meaningful difference in the long run. The only path to victory is to remove collectivists from positions of power and replace them with individualists.

The Ron Paul movement is the most important phenomenon in the United States at the present time because it holds the potential to actually remove collectivists from positions of power and replace them with individualists. A Ron Paul victory would send thousands of collectivist moles scrambling out of their burrows in Washington D.C. and, in their place, there would be a chance for men and women with traditional American values. Yes, it’s a long shot at this point, but it’s also our only shot; so we would be foolish not to pursue it with everything we have.

The role of Freedom Force is to encourage the mobilization of as many independent groups as possible behind the Ron Paul movement. We must offer inspiration and rationale for an effective Presidential campaign, and we must help to create a coalition among all of these groups so they can magnify each others efforts, but we cannot and must not attempt to be a mass-action or campaign organization. That is the task of the groups through which we work.

CAN RON PAUL WIN?
Some will say that Ron Paul cannot be elected because he is not well known. It is true that he is not well known, but what these nay-sayers don’t realize is that it is possible to MAKE him well known between now and election time, even without the mass media. Therefore, the best way to help his campaign is to focus on gaining wide recognition of his name and platform.

A growing number of Americans are disgusted with partisan politics, and they are increasingly fed up with both mainstream parties. This provides us with an opportunity to advance the theme that “the Party is over. It’s time to return to sound principles and restore the Republic.” This can be said in many ways, but it must be said over and over. It is a powerful concept that the average voter will embrace. For example, one slogan could be: “Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate who can win for America.” If asked what that means, we should explain that other candidates may win for the Republican or Democrat Party, but only Ron Paul can win for America. Another appropriate slogan could be: “Restore the 2-party system. Vote for Ron Paul.” The possibilities are endless.

Click here for the video of my short speech at the Ron Paul rally in Mountain View, California, on July 14, 2007, where I discussed this issue.

YOU ARE THE CAMPAIGN
Ron Paul spoke to supporters in Phoenix on June 10 and laid out the plan for his campaign. The first thing to know about it is that YOU are the campaign. In other words, it is up to each of us to take the initiative, to form local teams of volunteers, to generate materials, and to reach out to the voters. His campaign headquarters can provide assistance and guidance, but it’s up to us to make it work. This is truly a grass roots effort like no other in political history. It is being organized, not from the top down, but from the bottom up. Here is Ron Paul’s checklist of things to do:

  1. Get on the Internet and sign up with the campaign at http://www.RonPaul2008.com.
  2. Register as a Republican so you can vote for him in the primary election.
  3. Purchase a rubber stamp that says “Ron Paul for President” and stamp it on envelopes, invoices, memos, foreheads, and everything else you own that will be seen by others. This is an excellent way to create wide recognition for Ron Paul’s name. Stamps can be made at your local office supply store or purchased at http://www.ronpaulstamp.com/.
  4. Sign into a local Ron Paul “meetup group” on the Internet. In the Google search field, type “Ron Paul meetup” and, when the Meetup window appears, enter your zip code. That will take you to the nearest existing group. If there is none close to you, get one started. This is important, because these are the grass roots version of local campaign headquarters.
  5. Donate money to the national headquarters for TV advertising. If you sell DVDs, t-shirts, stickers, etc., use the profit to produce more promotional material and donations to the campaign.
  6. Vote in Internet straw polls to make sure Ron Paul appears favorably on the charts.
  7. Research how to become elected as a GOP delegate in your state. If we don’t have pro-Paul delegates, he won’t be nominated by the GOP, and the show is over. We must start thinking about who we’re going to tap for these roles by December. The following links connect to additional information on this important step.  http://www.freedomsphoenix.com/Feature-Article.htm?InfoNo=020018.  How to become a delegate in your state: http://restoretherepublic.com/forum/index.php?board=99.0.
  8. Keep up a steady stream of letters to editors and calls to talk radio programs emphasizing that Ron Paul is the only candidate who can win for America.
  9. Generate as many Ron Paul Republican voters as possible. Make sure everyone knows where to vote. Make sure they have a ride. Get them to commit early by offering them a button, bumper sticker, or yard sign. These are all available on the Internet.
  10. It is not too early to begin organizing committees to monitor the election to catch and expose tampering through electronic vote machines and ballot scanners. If we cannot get our local election comissions to use paper ballots that can be hand counted, then exit polls may be our only recourse. For more information and guidance on this vital process, contact Vicky Karp who heads up The coalition for Visible Ballots. She can be reached at karp@mail.com.
  11. The primaries begin in January with the early states being Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. Naturally, we’ll want to focus all the power we can muster on those states, because that will make the greatest national impact. If we do our job right, the big-name campaigns will not be any better organized than we are – perhaps not as well. They may have the money and the media, but we have the manpower.
  12. Perhaps the greatest boost you can give to the Ron Paul campaign is to run for office yourself or convince a friend to do so! If Ron is elected, he will not be able to accomplish much without support from Congress and the Senate. Having many candidates running on a Ron Paul-like platform at all levels of government right down to City Hall will help Ron also, because it will demonstrate the wide support and respect he has. The Freedom Force strategy calls for freedom-loving citizens with no axe to grind except the defense of liberty to acquire influence within the power centers of society. Running for office on a platform based on The Creed of Freedom is the ultimate implementation of that strategy.

Ron Paul in the Primaries

September 18, 2007

As I talked about on our first episode, Ron Paul needs to get the nod at the Republican Party primary’s in order to even show up on the ballot for the Presidential election in 2008.  I’m still looking for RP supporters who are willing and able to band together and create a Wikipedia resource (or something similar) that will educate people on the rules in each state concerning the primary’s.  But in the meantime, I found the following post on a Ron Paul blog called Primarily Paul (check the blogroll for a link):

Ron Paul supporters: Have you registered as Republicans?

August 20, 2007 – 7:07 amI see a lot of Ron Paul supporters out there, but I wonder how many of them have registered as Republicans so they can vote for him in the primary? How many of them know if they need to register as a Republican? Before Ron Paul can run for President, he needs to win the nomination of the Republican party, something a lot of people are forgetting. Now I’ve made it simple and have created a table listing each state, whether their primary is open or closed, and when it will be held.

So grab a stamp and envelope, print out your state’s voter registration form, and mail that puppy in. Take a bunch of stamps, envelopes, and voter registration forms to your next MeetUp. Tell everyone you know that they need to register to vote and register as a Republican so they can support Ron Paul in their primary.

Ron Paul in the primary

You’ve entered the Ron Paul Dr. No! Zone

September 16, 2007

Welcome one and all to the first episode of our spankin’ new tubecast called The Dr. No! Zone (click link for this episode). Biweekly I will be hosting a tubecast (YouTube) with news, video, audio clips and any notes, jokes and anecdotes I find of interest concerning Republican Ron Paul’s campaign for the 2008 Presidential Elections!Check out episode 1 for the week of Sept. 16 07; we talk about:

  • Dr. Paul’s visit to Salt Lake City for fund raising and a public rally, including exclusive video clips of his speech.
  • I propose an idea about collaborating on a Wiki page that will teach Ron Paul supporters how to switch party affiliation so that they are able to vote in the upcoming Republican Primary’s as well as how to represent your state as a delegate at the Republican National Convention. This is an important factor in getting Dr. Paul on the ballot for 2008!
  • We close out the show with a few notes about upcoming Ron Paul events across the country, as well as a few odds and ends.

If you enjoyed the show, and you want to see more each week, please take a moment to rate it on YouTube. Also, send a link out to your friends, family, MeetUp groups, fellow Ron Paul bloggers and anyone else you think might be interested in The Dr. No! Zone tubecast! We would love to hear any suggestions you might have for future episodes. We’re also interested in any video and audio clips you may have that you’d like to see included in upcoming episodes (please contact us before sending).

Also, if you’re the coordinator of a local MeetUp group, please send us details on your upcoming events; we will choose a few each episode to broadcast across the internets. One more thing…this is an amateur production using editing software we have available to us on our iBook G4. If you know of any great, cheap video editing software that might help us professionalize the show a bit more, please send us a note about it.Get out there, get active, and get involved in the Ron Paul revolution!!!
